3rd Place Winner for the Taste of Home contest

The 3^rd Place recipe is a Quinoa and Black Bean Salad. 

A Representative from Taste of Home said, “It was entered in the healthy category, but it is SO good that you'd eat it whether you wanted to eat right or not. It's a great mix of flavors and textures. It really surprised us!” 

The winner of this amazing dish is Yvonne Compton from Elkton Charter School in Elkton Oregon.  A $5,000 check was presented to principal Mike Hughes on behalf of Elkton Charter school and another $5,000 check was presented to Yvonne Compton for her submission of the Quinoa and Black Bean Salad.  These checks were presented at an all school assembly at 9 a.m. PST this morning. 

Congratulations Yvonne, your recipe was selected third out of more than 14,000 recipe submissions. 

Taste of Home update

Books Are Fun will be making a presentation for the 3rd  place winner on Monday  February  28^th at that winning school.

Books Are Fun will be making a presentation for the 2^nd  place winner on Tuesday March 1^st at that winning school. 

Books Are Fun will be making a presentation for the 1^st place winner on Friday March 4th at that winning school. 

We are still making arrangements for the 3^rd place school and will provide you an update when this has been finalized.  We will update our facebook page each day an announcement is made. 

Taste of Home Winners

Taste of Home has identified the 3^rd place winner but the other two are so close that they are having a taste-off and discussion at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.  Once they have selected the winners we will be flying out to present a check to each of the top 3 winners.  Be on the lookout for a representative from Books Are Fun to surprise you with your winning check.  More updates coming soon.

TOH has approximately 175 of the 200+ recipes selected for the new cookbook. Once TOH has made their final selections they will determine the winners and we will make an official announcement…..please stay tuned.
